Hey guys my name is Ching Hei Wong, I am a BASI level 1 ski & snowboard instructor, a snowboard fanatic who is from Hong Kong, a city without snowy mountains. This channel is dedicated to promote snowboarding and skiing, also it showcases my experience as I go deeper into the sports. 2019 January Madarao & Nozawa Onsen Snowboard Trip
Finally made it to Japan! It snowed a ton when me and my buddy Ambrose were there.

Recently went on a gauranteed to be snowboarding course. The course was four hours long, cut into two, two hour sessions. Obviously couldn't snowboard after four poxy hours and many more lessons required. Anybody else had a similar experience???
It took me 8 x 1.5hr lessons to be able to link turns to the standard expected by an instructor
@@jasonjenkins6373 I doubt very much there would be a lot of people who could snowboard after just four hours Jason. Are you still boarding ? Obviously the lockdown put a stop to that for a while but did you stick at it ?
@@mooncat.787 i cannot snowboard at the moment since i am based in the uk but i do indoor at snowfactor when its open Realistic timeframes from my experience would be as follows: 1.5hrs lesson for toe edge sliding down the slope 1.5 hrs lesson for heel edge sliding down the slope. After that a bunch of 1.5hr lessons learning to let your board go down the fall line and from that form a turn either via heel side or toe side. Eventually you will be able to link. I think 4hrs is unrealistic unless the person was previously good at kite surfing or skateboarding or something like that and is able to learn faster than normal.
@@jasonjenkins6373 That's where I board at the Chill Factore Manchester. Me and my partner paid for the gauranteed to snowboard course after four hours. However we couldn't board after the four hours but the course deal gave us unlimited lessons until we could board (at least in the instructors eyes) We took three extra one hour lessons after the initial four then the dreaded lockdown ensued obviously ending our snowboarding learning curve. Anyways that messed things up obviously so all we can do now is wait until the lockdown is over and start again I suppose.

Riding contact with a student is not allowed in most ski schools because of liability. These methods just don't produce good enough results for most students. I like to use 1/2 to 3/4 of the hour on the flat teaching different exercises then maybe ride a hill. What I find most challenging for new students is most of them have no clue and not even a why they want to snowboard. But I still teach them the most important part of snowboarding....It's a hell of a lot of fun!
One of my senior instructors use a hula hoop to create a false sense of security for his student, meaning his student feel like they are relying on the instructor for balance but in fact they are not. If they put weight on the hoop, they would still fall.
